Renaissance One presents We Liming: Calypso!

Sunday 27 June, 6-7pm

Celebrating Caribbean poetry, song and orality with John Agard and guests.

Join us for performances featuring one of Britain’s foremost cross-cultural voices, John Agard, poet Michael Brome and special guests. The evening will celebrate Caribbean poetry and calypso and the inherent musicality and power in telling stories out loud and sharing our stories.

Known for his mischievous satirical wit and flair for shaping terms of his own making, Agard takes on the mighty role of Poetsonian – where the poet responds to calypso and its rhythms – to draw attendees in to the creativity of music and playfulness with words.  The evening is shaped as a joyful experience and takes on the mood of a Trinidadian-style lime that invites you to socialise, engage in the art of ‘hanging out’ and go with the flow.

The event is part of a Caribbean Fest series for community groups and individuals and curated by Melanie Abrahams, for full information of what’s on offer visit Join in and take part!
